AmeriCorps Digital Inclusion Initiative

As part of a team of 16 Digital Literacy Instructors in rural Maine, AmeriCorps members will provide instruction to disadvantaged workers to improve their employability and to seniors to help them age in place. Positions still available in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Aroostook, and Oxford County. Members will schedule and teach hands-on computer classes in a network of libraries and other community locations, tracking participation and outcome measures which are needed to evaluate the impact of the program statewide. Members will spend 20% of their service time participating in a train-the-trainer program which will provide the skills needed to be able to provide digital literacy training to rural Mainers; aid in their understanding of the barriers to digital inclusion; and provide ongoing guidance throughout the service year.
